Z-Tuff

If you are looking for a sturdy blade, consider this steel.

Currently, "Z-Tuff"  is the strongest steel with overwhelming toughness and impact resistance while having wear resistance that can be used as a high-performance knife.

In 2004, Carpenter released CD # 1 powdered steel with tremendous toughness.
This steel had an unprecedentedly high toughness, but it was necessary to increase the hardness to some extent in order to obtain good wear resistance. However, increasing the hardness results in lower toughness, which makes it difficult to use as a knife.

Zapp Tool Alloys released Carpenter CD # 1 improved powder steel "Z-Tuff" in 2015.
As a result, it has the same strength as CD # 1, but it does not sacrifice strength even if the hardness is increased.

When referring to CPM 3V, CPM 3V has the maximum toughness of HRC59, but Z-Tuff secures toughness exceeding 3V even with HRC62.
With this hardness, it is not only abrasion resistant, but also has high strength against deformation, and combined with toughness, it becomes a very sturdy blade.
As a result, Z-Tuff's toughness and wear resistance exceed 3V.

In terms of corrosion resistance, it is less prone to rust than CPM 3V, and even if it comes into contact with water, etc., rust can be prevented by wiping it off thoroughly after use.
