Extraterrestrial Planet Exploration Knife


ISZ 414SE StarGate is a special knife that can withstand harsh extraterrestrial environments. The differences in the terrestrial environment, such as extraterrestrial planets, are the climate, air pressure, and temperature. For this reason, this knife does not use any resin or adhesives.

​All components are made of metal.

The overall design is designed with heat dissipation in mind.

This is expected to have the effect of cooling as quickly as possible in a scorching hot environment like Venus.

Therefore, special gloves must be worn when using this knife in a special environment.

However, the universe is vast and there are many unimaginable environments, so this knife cannot handle everything.

​The concept of this knife is that it has more capabilities to withstand harsh environments than a normal knife.

Blade

 

The blade steel is Stellite 190. Unlike normal steel, Stellite 190, which is mainly composed of cobalt, is a special metal that functions as a blade without heat treatment.

While it has excellent abrasion resistance like steel, it is also hard, so it has the same performance as regular steel.

​Furthermore, it has overwhelming resistance to extremely cold, scorching hot, and acidic environments, so it has a blade that can function in harsh environments that are unimaginable on Earth.


​The point is an obtuse tanto point, which increases the point strength.

​The blade also has serrations, which make it effective for cutting fibrous materials.

Handle

 

The handle is made of solid titanium at the front, zirconium in the middle, copper at the rear, and copper in the middle of the handle, sandwiched between zirconium and secured with a Ti6AL4V titanium alloy bolt.

The copper in the middle of the handle and hilt has heat dissipation fins to efficiently release heat that accumulates in the titanium and zirconium.

The blade and handle are both made of materials that are resistant to acidic environments, but on extraterrestrial planets and other places, there are countless environments that are beyond our common sense, so this material composition does not necessarily work, and it is necessary to use it in a way that suits the environment.

Sheath

 

The sheath is made of Kydex. Metal materials such as titanium are also required for the sheath, but the sheath needs to be developed to suit the equipment configuration and design of the space suit to be used, so the sheath is a standard model.
